Eligo chairman Anthony Bailey is appointed to the London Challenge Ministerial Advisory Group of the Department of Education and Skills. London - December 2004.

The Chairman of Eligo International, Mr Anthony Bailey, has been appointed to the London Challenge Ministerial Advisory Group of the Department of Education and Skills. The Advisory Group reports every six weeks to the Minister of State for Schools, Mr Stephen Twigg, MP.

Mr Bailey has been actively advising the Department of Education and Skills and the Policy Unit of 10 Downing Street on the Academies programme for over two years. The programme aims to provide disadvantaged communities in England with excellent schooling facilities and specialist expertise. A target of 200 academies has been announced by HM Government to be open, or in the pipeline, by 2010, including 60 academies in London.

Eligo has played a significant role in forging contact between business and education as well as specifically brokering a number of academy projects in Greater London and the North of England.

On the occasion of the Official Visit to Britain of His Excellency Mr Driss Jettou, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Morocco, Mr Anthony Bailey, Chairman of Eligo International, was received by the Moroccan Head of Government at the Moroccan Ambassador's Residence in London.

Mr Bailey, who is a Trustee of the Moroccan-British Society based in Rabat, discussed numerous cultural, interfaith and educational initiatives soon to be launched aimed at furthering the ancient and warm ties between Britain and Morocco.

The Governor of Asir Province in Saudi Arabia has hired Eligo International to co-ordinate a high level visit by His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud to the Portuguese Republic.

During the royal visit discussions were held concerning the launch of the first high-level cultural and educational exchange programme between the two countries. During the visit, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal attended an official lunch held in his honour at the National Palace of Pena in Sintra and an official dinner at the Belem Tower in Lisbon hosted by the Portuguese Minister of Culture, Her Excellency Senhora Maria Joao Bustorff. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Lisbon, His Excellency Mr Mohamed Al-Rasid, also hosted a dinner in honour of His Royal Highness.

Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, who is one of the most senior members of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family ever to visit Portugal, also visited key cultural sites in Lisbon and Sintra including the National Palace of Sintra. His Royal Highness also paid a courtesy call on HRH The Duke of Braganza, a longstanding supporter of the King Faisal Foundation which is headed by Prince Khalid Al-Faisal.

Eligo International has been advised Prince Khalid Al-Faisal and the King Faisal Foundation since March 1999.

 

The King of Morocco honours Eligo Chairman Anthony Bailey for his work in furthering British-Moroccan relations. Rabat - October 2004.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco has awarded one of his country's highest honours to Mr Anthony Bailey, Chairman of the London-based communications company, Eligo International.

In a ceremony at the Royal Palace in the Moroccan capital of Rabat, Mr Bailey received the insignia of Knight Commander of the Royal Order of Al-Alaoui from HRH Prince Moulay Rashid, brother of Moroccan monarch.

Among those attending were HH Princess Lalla Joumala Alaoui, President of the Moroccan-British Society, Her Majesty's Ambassador to Morocco, HE Mr Haydon Warren-Gash, and The Ambassador of His Majesty The King of Morocco to the Court of St James's, HE Mr Mohammed Belmahi.

This award was made in recognition of the contribution which Mr Bailey and Eligo International have given over recent years to the Moroccan-British Society and on the occasion of the signing of the HM King Mohammed VI Fellowship for Moroccan and Mediterranean Studies between the Moroccan British Society and St Antony's College, University of Oxford. Mr Bailey is a Trustee and Committee member of the Society.

Eligo International has also been advising the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Great Britain on numerous communications and public affairs assignments.

Eligo Chairman Anthony Bailey said, "I was surprised and delighted toreceive this recognition from The King of Morocco. It has been a wonderfully enriching experience to work for Morocco over recent years and to visit this unique and fascinating part of the world.

"I am delighted that finally a major educational fellowship for the study of Morocco and the Mediterranean region as whole has now been established in King Mohammed's name at Oxford University. Such initiatives are so important at this time and are yet another example of the furthering of the ancient and warm ties which exist between the Moroccan and British people".

In a letter dated 15 November 2004 from Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty The Queen granted Mr Bailey Unrestricted Permission to officially wear the decoration in the United Kingdom.

His Holiness Pope John Paul II has knighted Eligo International's Chairman Anthony Bailey in recognition of his charitable endeavour to aid the work of the Holy See in the Republic of Serbia and Montenegro.

The awarding of the insignia of Knight Commander of the Pontifical Order of Pope Saint Sylvester to Mr Bailey follows over two years work in co-ordinating a series of inter-church and inter-faith initiatives led by the Apostolic Nuncio (Vatican Ambassador) to the Balkan nation, HE Archbishop Eugenio Sbarbaro.

This on-going work includes the preparation of a series of publications explaining the precise role of the Roman Catholic Church during the recent Balkan crisis, promoting the interfaith activities of the Vatican City as well as sourcing the funding to restore the Vatican's diplomatic headquarters in Belgrade.

" This has been a fascinating project in which Eligo has been able to bring together Christians of all denominations as well as Muslims and Jews in a major ecumenical project of the Holy See in a country which has suffered both historical and contemporary religious intolerance. To have played even a small part in the much needed healing process of this country which suffered so much during the recent war has been enormously rewarding". Presidents of Costa Rica and Panama honour Eligo Chairman Anthony Bailey. Rome - April 2004.

His Excellency Dr Abel Pacheco de la Espriella, President of the Republic of Costa Rica, in a ceremony at the Palazzo di Cancelleria in Rome, bestowed his country's highest honours, the Knight Grand Cross of the National Order of Juan Mora Fernandez on EligoInternational's chairman,Anthony Bailey. This award was made in recognition of his contribution to Costa Rican-European bilateral relations. Eligo has been engaged for several years in establishing a number of charitable initiatives in the Central American nation involving the homeless, elderly and the sick.

In a separate ceremony in central Rome, the Charge d'Affaires of the Republic of Panama to the Holy See, Señor Francisco Javier Torres, presented on behalf of Her Excellency President Mireya Moscoso Rodríguez, the insignia of Grand Officer of the Order of Manuel Amador Guerrero to Eligo International's Chairman,Anthony Bailey.

This high award was made in recognition of Eligo's work in launching, through its client, the SacredMilitary Constantinian Order of Saint George, of a number of charitable and humanitarian initiatives in Panama as well as initiatives which promoted the Roman Catholic Faith in the country.

In a letter dated 19 April 2004 from Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty The Queen granted Mr Bailey Unrestricted Permission to officially wear the decorations in the United Kingdom.

Eligo International Chairman Anthony Bailey has been honoured by three Arab nations in recognition of his contribution to the furthering of European-Arab inter-faithrelations.MrBaileyandhis communicationscompanyEligo International have been professionally engaged throughout the Arab world for many years and today the company continues to represent a number of governments,corporationsand charitable bodies from across the region.

Anthony Bailey was invested with the Syrian Order of Outstanding Merit (First Class) in a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Damascus on 21 March 2004. His Excellency Bashar al-Assad, President of the Syrian Arab Republic, presented Mr Bailey with the insignia and diploma on behalf of the Syrian people. The award was made in recognition of Mr Bailey's contribution to European-Syrian interfaith relations.

At a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Beirut on 23 March 2004, His Excellency General Emile Lahoud, President of the Republic of Lebanon, decorated Mr Bailey with the insignia of Knight Commander of the National Order of the Cedar. This high award was made in recognition ofMrBailey's contribution to British-Lebanese bilateral relations and for his charitable endeavour among the Christian and Muslim communities in the Republic.

His Excellency Ali Abdullah Saleh, President of the Republic of Yemen, also bestowed on Mr Bailey at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Sana'a, the Order of Unification - 22 May in the grade of First Class with Collar. This high award was made in appreciation of Mr Bailey's contribution to furthering religious dialogue between Yemen and Europe, which in recent years has included exchange visits of Muslim leaders with their Christian counterparts across Europe. Eligo International has co-ordinated over many years a series of important interfaith initiatives which have brought together the leaders of all faiths.

In a letter dated 19 April 2004 from Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty The Queen granted Mr Bailey Unrestricted Permission to officially wear the decorations in the United Kingdom.
